HM Treasury has published a progress update on its Plan for Jobs.
The report finds that one-in-three workers were furloughed during the pandemic and one-in-four self employed businesses claimed via the Self Employment Income Support Scheme.
Job vacancies are now at their highest since records began in 2001 and government is prioritising action to fill HGV driver roles in the supply chain.
63,000 young people have now begun kickstart placements which see wages, pension and national insurance costs covered by the Government.
The report restates the government's objective to increase the National Living Wage to two-thirds of median earnings by 2024.
The government also recently announced a record £650 billion infrastructure investment will support 425,000 jobs a year, according to a new Infrastructure Pipeline launched on Monday alongside the Government's latest Plan for Jobs Progress Update.
