New campaign encourages people to support independent businesses in Midsomer Norton

Posted on in Business News

A ‘Shop, Dine and Visit Local’ campaign has been launched in Midsomer Norton with backing from businesses and Bath & North East Somerset Council.

Midsomer norton

The campaign highlights the number of independent shops, restaurants, cafés and businesses in the town.

Cllr Paul Roper, B&NES cabinet member for economic and cultural sustainable development, said: “Every pound spent at a local café, hairdresser or restaurant helps to boost the local economy, support local jobs and local families, and ensures the town centre continues to thrive.

“We are working hard to minimise any disruption during the work to create the new Market Square and we want to encourage everyone to show support for local businesses and invest in the community by continuing to shop, dine and visit locally.”

Construction of the new public space outside the Town Hall aims to rejuvenate Midsomer Norton town centre, providing space for community events and making it possible for indoor and outdoor events to be held in the town centre.

The Market Square is part of the £3.7m Midsomer Norton High Street Regeneration Programme, which follows on from the successful High Street Heritage Action Zone.

The scheme is being carried out by B&NES Council, with funding and support provided by Historic England, the West of England Combined Authority through its ‘Love Our High Streets’ grant programme, and Midsomer Norton Town Council.

The work is expected to be completed by early 2025.
